DIY Air Dry Clay

Smoother, finer and less sticky than traditional clay, this special air-dry clay needs no oven or kiln to set. The easy-to-use clay softens with water and cleans quickly from hands and surfaces. Air-dry clay can be used with traditional techniques such as pinch, coil, slab and score-and-weld to make a huge range of projects, including stamped impressions, beads, and embedding found objects. The white clay can be painted with tempera, acrylic or watercolors when dry.

4 ounces of cornstarch
4 ounces of glue
1 tablespoons of vegetable or baby oil
1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar

1. Add ½ cup of cornstarch, then 4 oz of glue.
2. Mix them together until there’s a smooth icing like consistency.
3. Add 2 tbs of oil and 1 tbs of the lemon juice, then give a quick mix.
4. Pop in microwave for 30 seconds, take out give it a quick mix and place back in for 30 seconds.
5. After its done take a wooden spoon and move around the bowl until it has dough-like consistency.
6. Remove clay and place on parchment paper, and gently knead it with cornstarch until it’s no longer sticky. It should have smooth creamy texture.
